Parent Association 2008-2009
In addition to the open communication among parents, teachers, and administrators at Harford Day School, the Parent Association provides another vehicle for exchanging information. The group is composed of two representatives from each class and four at-large representatives, but all parents are welcome to attend the monthly meetings. Head of School Su Harris delivers a report on events and news at the school, and parents are free to ask questions.

Officers of the Parent Association are:
President:                      Chris Hoffman
Vice President:           Lilly Singh
Secretary:                      Cheryl Steedman
Treasurer:                      Julie Stancliff

Fundraisers
The Parent Association organizes fundraisers, community service events, and parent education seminars. The spring gathering is the Association's principal fundraiser. Other fundraisers include book fairs and restaurant nights. Each year the Parent Association raises money to fund the school's wish list.

Social Events
New Building Bash
On a Saturday afternoon early in October the entire school community gathers for a picnic, complete with a DJ and games.  Returning families reconnect with old friends and new families have a chance to meet their children's classmates and families.

Grandparents’ & Special Friends’ Day
More than 400 grandparents and special friends visit campus each May to get a glimpse of what it is like to be a Harford Day student. They go to classes with their grandchildren, get their pictures taken with their favorite students, and attend an all-school assembly.

Faculty Appreciation Breakfasts
Throughout the year each grade sponsors an appreciation breakfast for the faculty. From 7:30 AM until about 8:15 AM faculty are offered coffee, bagels, fruit, eggs, omlettes and the like.

Community Service
Harford Day is committed to making community service part of the lives of its students. The Parent Association helps by organizing activities in which parents and students can work together to help various organizations in Harford County.

Parent Education
This year, the Parent Association will invite several professionals to speak on various topics relating to parenting and childhood education. Meetings with speakers will be well-publicized, and all meetings are open to all school parents.

Get Involved
There are many ways for parents to get involved at Harford Day. Preparing hot lunches, making costumes for plays, accompanying classes on field trips, attending performances, and volunteering time and talent are just a few examples. The Parent Association is a wonderful way to volunteer, meet other parents, and play an active role in the life of the school. If you have questions please contact the Director of Parent Relations, Donna Decker at donnadecker@harforday.org.
